Deloitte’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre in Cyprus launched its Connected series of talks on 29 October, targeting the main actors and stakeholders of the entrepreneurship ecosystem of Cyprus. The aim of the Connected series is to inspire these actors by presenting good practices in the field of entrepreneurship from different parts of the world.
The first event of the Connected series was entitled, ‘’Connected with Israel – Tel Aviv’s Playbook: What can we learn?” The event was held under the auspices of the Embassy of Israel and the Ambassador Yael Ravia-Zadok, who delivered a welcome address.
During the event, three exceptional speakers from Israel gave presentations and engaged in a stimulating discussion with the audience, sharing their experiences, from the investor’s point of view. The guest speakers were:
• Nimrod Cohen: A serial entrepreneur in the web and mobile industries. A Venture Partner at Plus Venture, and heading the Explore. Dream. Discover. Incubator, with over 30 investments in portfolio companies in the last three years.
• Tal Chen: An Israeli Technology dots connector. Focusing on establishing business relationships between Israeli tech companies, foreign investors, strategic partners and potential buyers. Leader of the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) industry group of Deloitte Israel.
• Yossi Korakin: Over 17 years of experience in Business Development, R&D and Project Management at both small startup and large companies. Co-founded three consecutive hi-tech startups and secured venture capital and private funding leading to successful sale of each company.
An introductory presentation on the importance of entrepreneurship to the competitiveness of an economy as well as the status quo of entrepreneurship support in Europe and Cyprus was delivered by Nicos S. Kyriakides, Partner of Deloitte Cyprus and Head of Deloitte’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre.
The discussion was facilitated by Monica Ioannidou Polemitis, Senior Manager at Deloitte’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre.
