The Cyprus Problem, Turkey-EU relations and bilateral issues were on the agenda of Thursday’s meeting between President Nicos Anastasiades and British Foreign Minister Philip Hammond.
“The leaders of both communities in Cyprus have created a sense of hope, a sense of momentum towards a solution to the long-standing Cyprus problem,” he declared following the meeting. Such a solution, the UK Foreign Secretary affirmed, will be hugely to the benefit of all Cypriots, Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, as it will allow the island to function again as a single entity.
The two Ministers had a tête-à-tête meeting, followed by a working lunch, during which they discussed the Cyprus problem, the issue of terrorism, Cyprus-UK bilateral relations and strategic partnership, and the suggested EU reform.
