In yet another step towards the transition to a wholly paperless Government, the Cabinet has revealed its intention to increase the role of digital coordination in the operation of the State.
The objectives of the move is to modernise the public sector by operating without paper, simplifying processes, and saving costs, culminating in the provision of a ‘friendlier’ environment with ameliorated bureaucracy for both citizens and businesses alike.
Indeed, according to local media sources, the role of electronic processes in coordinating, recording and monitoring the progress of Government work will increase in the coming months.
A State announcement reads: “This will radically change the way the public service operates by simplifying the complex and time-consuming traditional procedures. It is expected to make competent authorities more effective in implementing government work as a whole and, consequently will offer more productive results.”
