Μεγάλη πυρκαγιά ξέσπασε τα ξημερώματα σε εργοστάσιο στον Ύψωνα, θέτοντας σε κινητοποίηση τις Αρχές, δεδομένου ότι η αποθήκη γειτνιάζει με κατοικίες. Από την πυρκαγιά προκλήθηκαν εκρήξεις και για προληπτικούς λόγους εκκενώθηκαν κατοικίες.
Συγκεκριμένα, η πυρκαγιά ξέσπασε γύρω στις 2:30 τα ξημερώματα της Τετάρτης, σε εργοστάσιο που βρίσκεται στην περιοχή του Ύψωνα στη Λεμεσό. Στο σημείο έσπευσαν ισχυρές δυνάμεις της Πυροσβεστικής, για κατάσβεση της πυρκαγιάς. Σημειώνεται πως ακούγονται εκρήξεις από την πυρκαγιά και προκλήθηκε αναστάτωση.
Πρόκειται για βιομηχανία χαρτιού, η οποία βρίσκεται πλησίον του δημαρχείου Ύψωνα. Η πυρκαγιά αυτή τη στιγμή βρίσκεται σε ύφεση.
Για προληπτικούς λόγους, η Πυροσβεστική Υπηρεσία προχώρησε στην εκκένωση κατοικιών που γειτνιάζουν με την αποθήκη, ενώ έγιναν τεράστιες προσπάθειες να μην επεκταθεί η πυρκαγιά.
Στο σημείο βρίσκονται και μέλη της Αστυνομίας, τα οποία ρυθμίζουν την κυκλοφορία στην περιοχή, με σκοπό να μην κινδυνεύσουν πολίτες.
Προς αυτό το σκοπό, κλειστός είναι από τον αυτοκινητόδρομο Λεμεσού-Πάφου, ο δρόμος προς την περιοχή Ύψωνα. Στην περιοχή βρίσκονται μέλη της Αστυνομίας για ρύθμιση της κυκλοφορίας και παροχή βοήθειας.
